Botswanas No.1 Ladies Detective Agency is in desperate need of clients. To boost business, Mma Makutsi prints up flyers, which seem to do the trick. Mma Ramotswe soon finds herself hunting down an absconding apostolic, finding a disappearing dog, and checking up on a definitely disturbed dentist.

Mma Ramotswe attempts to help Mrs Curtin discover what has happened to his son as he has been missing for 10 years. Mma Makutsi attempts to find out who is responsible for the Kgale hill break-ins.

Mma Makutsi is asked to investigate the behaviour of some of the contestants at a local beauty pageant. Mma Ramotswe tries to find out what has happened to Nandira Patels boyfriend who has disappeared. A new local agency goes head to head with the ladies.
