Inspired by the "Karate Kid" films, Adam and the other Adam Goldberg face off in a karate match to settle once and for all a long-running feud. Barry and Adam go to Uncle Marvin for training, but the only thing they learn is how to clean an apartment. Meanwhile, when Erica and Geoffs relationship becomes public, they realize that they arent the good guys.

While Erica receives her college acceptance letters, Barry decides to become a doctor and looks at schools with good medical programs; Lainey announces that she is going to a school without a medical program, making Barry rethink his idea.

Barry feels left out, so he tries to create a divide between the relationship of Adam and Pops, while they debate the merits of a movie; Erica intentionally messes up her.

After TV movie “The Day After” airs, Barry takes matters into his own hands by attempting to convince Murray to build an underground bunker. When he says no, Barry tries one last attempt at getting Murray to change his mind. Meanwhile, Erica and Adam give over-the-top Mother’s Day gifts before making important requests to Beverly, but it ultimately backfires.

Graduation Day is quickly approaching, and Erica cannot wait to get out of the house, until it dawns on her how much Beverlys love means to her. She attempts to delay her graduating so she can stay home. Later, Barry has plans for him and Lainey, but they turn to dust. Meanwhile, Dana makes a surprise visit just as Adam and Jackie officially become a couple.

Adam is assigned a term paper on a great person in history, and he decides to make a movie about his grandfather but finds all of Pop’s war stories mundane. With the children growing up, Beverly decides to reinvent herself and quits being a substitute teacher. She decides to focus her energy on going to night school so she can eventually own her own business. Murray doesnt like change or things costing money, so he convinces her to get a perm instead. Meanwhile, Erica struggles to balance her academic and social life in college and needs Adams assistance.

When The Ottoman Empire’s business declines due to a new furniture competitor, Adam offers to make Murray a commercial starring Marvin, but things go awry when Marvin’s actions mess up the original plan. Meanwhile, Beverly offers to help Barry as he keeps striking out as he attempts to get a girl at school.

Its a complete disaster when Murray takes Adam out for a driving lesson and they learn something new about Pops in the process. Meanwhile, Erica has a hard time making friends at her school and turns down a toga party invitation. When Barry arrives for a weekend visit, he quickly thrives on the social scene, easily making friends, unlike his sister. But a little pep talk by Barry helps Erica finally enjoy college.

Erica tells Beverly she is going to spend the first night of Hanukkah with Geoff and his family; Beverly worries and starts a competition for who hosts the best Hanukkah party; Barry seeks advice from Pops on how to be cool.

Erica warns Geoff about going to dinner with her family to celebrate her birthday, but he insists. Upon arrival, it’s apparent this will be no ordinary dinner out. By evening’s end, Geoff hits his breaking point.

Barry joins the football team but is quickly benched by Coach Mellor due to his lack of playing ability. He convinces himself the coach is testing him; but when Barry realizes the truth of his playing ability, Adam helps his brother understand there are other ways he can contribute to the team. Meanwhile, Beverly designs jackets that she tries to get Murray and Erica to sell when a national TV channel won’t.

When Beverly gets a glimpse into a soon-to-be empty nest, she replaces her kids with the Mellor brothers, nursing Coach Mellor back to health after falling off the rope climb. Meanwhile, Erica and her college roommate get on each other’s nerves in their dorm room, especially when Valley Erica puts a scrunchie on the door and kicks Erica out.

Hoping to get the true spring break experience, Erica and Barry visit Pops in Florida, yet it’s nothing how they expected. Meanwhile, Adam tells the truth to Beverly and Murray but then gets a surprising reaction.

Barry gets the chance to throw the first pitch at a Philadelphia Phillies game and believes this is his chance to play professionally, but its anything but. Meanwhile, Erica makes an important decision about her future in college.

When Lainey moves back to town, Barry asks her to the prom; but when she says no, he plans a senior prank with Principal Balls car to get out of going. Meanwhile, Erica tells Murray she has made a final decision about her future in college, and he is furious and insists she pay her own way for rent and food.

Adam’s girlfriend, Jackie, is back after spending her summer at NYU; she has changed so much, it’s almost like she’s a whole different person. After receiving some not-so-great romantic advice from his loved ones, Adam takes drastic measures to hold on to his relationship. Meanwhile, Beverly is not happy with Lainey’s less-than-ideal domestic skills and decides to teach her future daughter-in-law a thing or two.

Adam discovers Beverly has been manipulating him with guilt letters when he tells his mother he doesn’t want her to chaperone the school trip to Hershey Park. Meanwhile, after attending Career Night, Geoff realizes he doesn’t want to be an eye doctor like his father.

Murray becomes an overzealous stage parent when he learns Adam has no interest in the school production of “Fiddler on the Roof.” Meanwhile, Beverly can’t seem to keep from interfering with Erica’s latest career plan.

Barry realizes that as a future doctor, he should be more concerned about Murrays health, so he enlists the Jenkintown Posse and Coach Mellor to help get his father in shape. Meanwhile, Beverly is horrified to learn that Erica and Adam dont want any of the priceless heirlooms in her fancy, never-really-used living room.

Much to Beverly’s chagrin, Barry is thrilled that he gets to celebrate Christmas now that he is engaged to Lainey. Meanwhile, Murray’s brother Marvin makes a promise to Adam with a surprising outcome.

Murray and Geoff team up to pull Beverly, Barry and Erica out of their shared misery that Lainey has left town. Adam’s dread of gym class is amplified when Coach Mellor’s brother, Coach Nick, arrives and uses fear as a motivator. Meanwhile, Coach Mellor prepares for the next step of his life.

After Adam decides to see "Willow" instead of spending Mothers Day with Beverly, he must find a way to get back into her smothering good graces. Meanwhile, Barry is tired of his status as middle child and fights Erica for his right to the college of his choice.

Beverly insists the family take a road trip to go on vacation to Disneyland before Erica and Barry go off to college; Erica worries about her relationship with Geoff when he tells her they need to talk.

Murray buys WrestleMania tickets to spend time with Barry and Adam, but he buys fake tickets and they cant get in; Beverly forms her own neighborhood watch group when the Frentas decide neighbor Jane Bales will be the watch captain.

Bill is getting married and Beverly and Jane have only 24 hours to plan it. Meanwhile, a fortune teller at the wedding reception could change the future for Adam, Erica and Barrys romantic life.

Adam sets out to create a movie that will tackle racism but realizes he is out of his depth on the subject due to his sheltered upbringing. Meanwhile, Geoff is determined to teach Erica and Barry to become better people.

Inspired by his obsession, Adam helps Beverly plan a murder mystery party for the family. Meanwhile, Erica, tasked with declaring her major, bumps up against Barrys cockiness as she considers going the pre-med route.

When Beverly realizes that she and Murray are not quite as in sync as they once were after a game night with the very-much-in-love Dolores and Bill, Beverly convinces Murray to get a hot tub to spend time together. Geoff tries out a new look for himself.

Beverly enlists the help of Barry and Erica to teach Adam to be more assertive, but Adam feels guilty after taking it too far. Meanwhile, Murray resolves to be a better friend after learning that Vic doesn’t think he can confide in him.

As Adams girlfriend, Brea, heads to visit her cousin at the University of Virginia (UVA), Beverly projects her own insecurity onto Adam, convincing him to do a grand gesture to prevent Brea from choosing UVA for college. Meanwhile, when Geoff asks Erica to go to the local Nancy Glass talk show with him, a disappointed Barry teams up with Geoffs sister Joanne to change his mind.

When Barry and Joanne crash Erica and Geoffs peaceful weekend camping trip, they end up in a competition to see who is the better couple, causing some unexpected shifts in relationships. After learning that Brea thinks Adam has an easy, privileged life, Adam seeks to prove her wrong by getting a job but quickly learns she might be right.

Trying to move on from their breakup, Erica goes on a date with a guy from the coffee shop while Geoff ends up on an episode of "The Dating Game," which winds up making things even more difficult for them both. Meanwhile, Beverly is thrilled to learn that Murray has spontaneously purchased a shore house until she realizes its not quite the luxury home she imagined.

In order to take her mind off of her heartbreak, Erica takes a trip to Los Angeles to see her best friend; after getting caught taking part in an underground poker game, Adam gets sentenced to Pop-Pop duty, which turns out better than expected.

Geoff shares with the JTP that he is planning on asking Erica to marry him and gives them the engagement ring for safekeeping. Like any good romantic comedy, several miscommunications and misunderstandings between Geoff and Erica’s friends and family result in a potential derailing of the proposal, forcing Adam to step in to keep the couple’s special moment alive.

Adam is distraught to discover hes been wait-listed at NYU while his girlfriend, Brea, has been accepted. Adam courts the NYU dean of admissions, hoping she will change her mind on his deferral.

Adam finds himself in a pickle when hes recruited to film his high schools final football game of the year and fails to capture his teams winning touchdown. Beverly discovers her neighbor is moving and shes determined to buy his home.

Missing his Pops, Adam finds himself disenchanted with his once favorite time of year, Halloween, until Beverly encourages Pop Pop to spend time with his grandson. Barry decides to bring his former alter ego, rapper "Big Tasty," back to life; and a chance encounter with the legendary Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, brings Barry and Joanne closer together.

When Beverly learns that Linda Schwartz will host Thanksgiving this year, she becomes concerned that her role as family hostess - and more importantly as Ericas mom - is threatened. Meanwhile, Pop-Pop surprises the family by showing up with a new "lady friend."

Beverly creates a plan to save Formica Mikes (Richard Kind) failing marriage, but her efforts quickly backfire. Meanwhile, Barry enlists Adam and friends to create a James Bond-themed home movie in his ongoing efforts to court Joanne, but her response leaves him with a bruised ego. Both Barry and Beverly learn valuable lessons in love.

Upon their return home from college orientation, Adam and Brea each confess a secret that could affect the future of their relationship. Meanwhile, Barry and Beverly openly admit their love of ice-dancing and explore their shared passion together.

When Erica and Geoff plan a joint bachelor/bachelorette party at the beach, Barry finds himself face-to-face with his ex-girlfriends and their current boyfriends - causing him to spiral in his attempt to stand out during the festivities. Meanwhile, Adam decides to intervene when Lou takes over planning the wedding video, ultimately bringing the families together.

Barry and his friends try to reclaim their youth by forming a boy band, but they quickly learn they arent kids anymore. Meanwhile, Adam has the keys to Ericas downtown apartment but realizes hes not cut out for city life.

When Beverly steps in for PE coach at William Penn Academy, Adam reluctantly takes her Jazzercise class. He is surprised to find enjoyment in it, until Beverly suffers an embarrassing incident - causing Adam the ultimate humiliation. Brea steps in to show Adam his mothers good intentions and he ultimately comes to her defense. Meanwhile, Barry and Geoff find themselves both up for the same medical internship - causing conflict in their budding friendship.

With Adams graduation approaching, Beverly debates staying on as William Penn Academys Quaker Warden. Forever butting heads with principal Ball, her choice also affects his decision to stay or not. Meanwhile, Erica tries to get out of the Schwartzs longstanding tradition of dinner together every Sunday and the subsequent household chores. She soon realizes the importance of finding balance between the demands of family and marriage.

Graduation day is approaching and everyone, especially Adam, is ready - except for Beverly who is not coping well with the idea of an empty nest. Meanwhile, with Geoffs encouragement, Erica decides to try out for Cyndi Lauper as a one-time backup singer replacement. Ultimately, resurrecting her singing dreams doesnt manifest, but bigger and exciting new beginnings await her and the Goldbergs.

With both sides of the family eager for answers on Geoff and Ericas pregnancy, they decide to keep their babys sex a surprise. However, a sonagram finding from Lou Schwartz might provide an unexpected discovery. Meanwhile, Adam recruits Glascott to help his mother cope with his departure for NYU; but when he later has a change of heart about heading off to college, he sources a job as the personal assistant to a special celebrity to help lessen the blow when news of his deferred enrollment is delivered to Beverly.  

With everyone preoccupied with the new baby on the way, Ericas graduation is met with lackluster enthusiasm from Beverly and Geoff. Meanwhile, Adams new job is in jeopardy and Barry tries to be the new man of the house.

In homage to the classic Halloween movies of the 80s, Geoffs terror over Beverly controlling all baby-care duties turns into a jump-scare-filled comedic thriller. Meanwhile, Adam is excited to spend Halloween visiting Dave Kim at NYU; however, his feelings change when he discovers that Dave Kim has reinvented himself.

Its Thanksgiving, and no one crushes Turkey Day like Beverly Goldberg; though, with the loss of Murray, this holiday feels a bit different. Geoff and Erica are stressed over the new baby; and, even more worrisome, an unexpected Goldberg relative arrives. With everyone highly suspicious of this unforeseen visitor, things are likely to go off the rails at any moment.

Sleigh bells are ringing! When Erica buys a festive baby toy, Beverly goes full on Grinch in an attempt to steal Christmas. Meanwhile, Adam discovers some surprising information about Brea, and the JTP host their first holiday party.

Barring mixed emotions from the family, a special someone expresses their infatuation with Beverly. Meanwhile, Dave Kim returns to Jenkintown with some exciting news.

After a month of seeing one another and some preconceived notions, Adam and Carmen discuss the status of their relationship; an old friend of Ericas visits town.
