Faking Hitler

Reporter Gerd Heidemann needs a real scoop, as he hasnt had a big story in a while. Konrad Kujau, not making enough selling fake memorabilia to old Nazis, desperately needs money and has the idea of forging Hitler’s diaries.

Kujau forges some letters to provide Heidemann with documents to verify the diaries. Leo Gold threatens Elisabeth to reveal her father’s guilty past, if she won’t provide him with information about the diaries.

Elisabeth tells the editors of Stern that she believes the diaries are fake, so Bloom has no choice but to fire her. Kujau panics with the impending publication of the diaries, so he forces Heidemann to keep his identity a secret.
