The Gene Autry Show

Gene returns from a trip, and meets a jockey named Billy Stone, who joins Gene. They find out that rancher, Sandy Dawson had hired some new farm-hands. Little does she know that the hands she hired are really rustlers in disguise. Billy discovers the stolen cattle, and runs away to the rancher to find the rustlers belongings. Gene and Billy find the rustlers, and take them down. Afterwards, Billy is off the hook, but he decides to stay in Texas.

Gene and Pat run into a runaway wagon. Gene finds the driver dead, with a silver arrow shot into him. Gene and Pat inform the sheriff, who tells them that a robber, Randy Edwards had just been released from jail. Randys attorney tells Gene that the silver arrow is Randys sign. It turns out that during Randys sentence, his attorney assumed the title of his ranch, The Silver Arrow, this leads Gene to believe that Randy was framed. The attorney is forming a lynching for Randy, who is hidden by Gene. He ambushes a cafe owner, and the sheriff clears Randys name.

A sheriff is killed, and the job is handed over to Gene. Gene hears about a homicidal robber, Ben Foster is the culpret, and goes after him. It turns out Ben also has a wayward son, Jimmy. Gene takes Jimmy in while he still looks for Ben. Jimmy runs into an outlaw gang, and promises to cooperate with them, by putting Gene on. Gene plans a party of Jimmy and Little Champ (Cahmpions son), Jimmy takes Little Champ, to ride over to jail to slip Ben a gun. Jimmy finds out about the party, and confesses to Gene about stealing Little Champ. Gene heads for Ben, where Jimmy covers for him. Gene takes Ben in, and takes him back to jail.

The T-C (a ranch) has a new cook, Jody Bowers. Gene breaks it to him that the T-C cant use the road thats on route to the Flying M. The people of T-C are displeased and refuse to use the other route, which takes two days to ride. A crook tries to kill the owner of T-C, and puts to blame of Genes boss.

While out on a stroll through the countryside, Genes boss is shot and killed. Gene teams up with newcomer, Pat Buttram to find out who the ambusher is. The leader of an outlaw gang imposses as Genes co-workers niece, Debra Randall. It turns out that Genes co-worker is part of the gang, and it was him who killed his boss. With the help (sort of) from Pat, Gene takes the outlaws in.

Gene trains Champion for a jockey, Corky, who will ride the horse in a race. Hap Wallace (Pat Buttram) and Corky rude into town to enter Champion in the race. Along the way, Hap runs into some outlaws, who take him into racing Champion against on of his gang members horse, Midnight. Hap of course bets on Champion. When the race comes, Champion falls ill, and Midnight wins. Hap and Corky discover that the race was fixed, and are captured by the outlaws. Corky is able to escape, and goes to Gene, who rescues Hap, while Corky forms a false posse. When the coast is clear, the outlaws break into a safe that contains Indian funds. Gene captures the outlaws, and tends to Champion.

When Gene and Pat go to take a drink at a waterhole, they find an empty bottle of poision along the banks. Gene then runs into his old Indian friend, Chief Tejon, who explains that the Central Valley Railroad are refusing to comply with their contract. Gene and Chief Tejon ride to the railroad camp to investigate. Gene has no luck, and rides to Willow Gap, where he finds the contract hidden in the office of the chief engineer, Craig. Pat discovers a connection between Craigs sister, and an assayer, who has bottles of poison in his office.

A thirteen-year-old boy named Eddie Baker comes out west to find his father, who deserted him. Gene and Pat help Eddie find his father. It turns out that father, Jim Baker, is an outlaw. Eddies story is printed in the local paper, and Jim goes looking for Eddie, who is currently recooperating at Genes ranch. The outlaws surrender to Gene when their ambush fail, by one of the fellow outlaws shooting Jim, who tries to stop him from shooting Eddie.

Susan Elwood is now happily married, and has a child. However, her father di not approve of the marriage. While out on a stroll, he is shot, and the town puts the blame on. Gene and Pat babysit for Susans baby while she visits her injured father. A posse place Gene under arrest for aiding and abetting. While two members of the posse keep an eye out for Gene, he hides them, so hell worm out a confession from Craig, who was the one who shot. In the end, the Elwood family is back on friendly terms.

Chuck Jones is the only boy in town that doesnt have a steed. His father, Blowfly promises him a horse with a black horse named, Blackie. The horse belongs to Gene, who is working on Blackie. Gene hears about the death of an old prospector, who was found with horseshoe prints on him. The townspeople point finger at Blackie, since the soeprints match his horseshoes. Antoher prospector is found dead with horseshoe prints on him. Blackie is then sentenced to death. Gene goes to find the real killer, and Chuck lets Blackie escape. Gene discovers that Blackie was used as a decoy, and the horse is off the hook, and Chuck now owns his own horse.

An outlaw knocks Gene unconscious, and tries to ride off with Champion, who overthrows him. Gene finds Chill trying to make it rain with every way in the book. Gene learns that an outlaw gang is loose in the town, so he a Chill go out to bring them in. It turns out their leader had stolen a US Marshal Badge. Chill, still trying to make it rain, is captured by the outlaws, but Gene rides to the rescue, fighting them, while rain finally comes.

A charming belle, Faith Harding comes to the west from Ohio, to visit her fiance, Johnny. Unbeknownst to her, Johnny is an outlaw gang leader, whos planing to overtake a payroll. He and his gang hold up a traveling wagon, only to find a big surprise when instead of carrying payroll, the wagon hides, Gene, Sagebrush, and the sheriff.

Gene parades as an outlaw to try and get information on a robbery a few years before.

Pat and his wagon passenger, Diana Jamison are attacked by two men, who plan to abduct Diana, but Gene is able to foil their plans. Steve Kinney tries to scare Dianas father, Dave into selling his ranch to have two ranches linked togethe across the border to smuggle good. Steve tries to ambush Dave, but is unsuccessful, and Gene is able to apprehend one of his outlaw members. The two men, then attack Daves ranch and kidnap Diana. Gne chases after them, only able to apprehend on of them. Gene and Pat plan a sneak attack, by smoking the outlaws out, while Pat rescues Diana. Steve meanwhile forces Dave to sign an agreement, but Gene arrives to save the day, and brings Steve in.

Gene,Pat, and a young woman named Lita are on their way to deliver a shipment of gold bars, worth a quarter of a million dollars. A gang of outlaws lead by Duke Travis attack them, but get away when Gene rescues Lita. Gene then goes after the outlaws, who have headed to Ghost Town. Gene then contacts law agencies in order to track down the goldbars, which are found at the Mexican border, being sold as nuggets. Gene, Pat, and the Mexican officials ride down to Dukes mine, only to find that it hasnt produced gold nuggets in years. Gene traces the gold back to Ghost Town that are being sold is horseshoes with an iron shell to hide them. Gene recovers the gold, takes Dukes gang in, and Pat claims hes seen a ghost.

Jud Halsey, the editor and publisher of The Tribune newspaper, prints headlines of crimes before they actually happen. His newest headline reads ""Gold Stage Robbed-Sheriff Killed"", and has his son, Burke in charge of carrying it out. Jud hopes that Burke will be promoted to sheriff, which will mean theyll get to run the town. Burke kills the sheriff, but Gene and Pat stop the gold robbery. With that, Gene is named sheriff, although Jud and Burke protest. Burke brings in his henchman, Pete, who knocks Gene unconscious, but that doesnt stop him from continuing his job as sheriff. The next headline reads ""Stage Robbed Again-Autry killed"". Pat notices this headline, and rides after Gene, who is accompaning the stage. Pat saves Genes life, and Jud and Burke are arrested.

Gene and Pat rescue a girl who was being chased by three men. She claims to be on Tonia Castelar. Once in town, Gene run into the three outlaws, and starts a fight. When a tax collector hears Gene and Pat are after ""El Avengador"", he has them guard a stage the next day, but Gene refuses. While Pat stays with Tonia, Gene and sheriff find a stage attackes, and the tax collector killed. Pat learns that Tonia is the leader of an outlaws, and askes Gene not to arrest her. She lets Gene and PAt ggo, right when the outlaws, led by Wade Morgan, attack. The sheriff arrives and finds out that Wade is El Avengador, and Tonia are promised a pardon.

Miss Lucy, and old maid of Boulder Bluff decides to leave, being fed up with the conflict between Tom Colby, and his stepfather, George. Pats stages horse run away, and Gene catches them at a spot where outlaw Ace Judkins is hiding, Pat mistakens Gene for the bandits. Ace pretends to be a U.S. Marshal, and he and Pat bring Gene in, where Gene sees Aces face on a wanted poster. Gene hears that gold has been stolen, and George Colby has been killed. Gene suspects Tom, and arrests him, but Miss Lucy is confident that hes innocent. Gene follows one of the outlaws to Aces hideout, while Pat follows Genes trail of wanted posters. The outlaws is double-crossed, and killed, when Pat and his posse arrive. The outlaws are brought in, and Tom is off the hook.

Jerry Miller becomes involved with a train robber, Vance Evans to receive a quick buck to support to his younger siblings, Sue and Bobby. When Jerry rides home, Vances henchmen capture him to drop him in a hole. Gene and Pat save Jerry, and ride after the outlaws who are now after Sue and Bobby. Afterwards, Jerry convinces Gene hes not one of the outlaws. Gene then goes out to find more information. Sue warns him about the approaching outlaws, and Gene knocks them unconscious, only to find hes held up by Vance. Gene is forced to drive him and Bobby, who is now his hostage out of town, Gene drives the wagon, but then jumps into the buckboard, and brings Vance in.

Miss Nettie, who is the new self-acclaimed sheriff, jails Gene and Pat, accusing them of being counterfeiters. Gene sings, soothing Miss Nettie, allowing them to escape, to bring in the real counterfeiters, who have been acting like complete gentlemen around her. After they are brought in, Miss Nettie gives Gene and Pat a pardon, and jails the real counterfeiters, while at the same time, resigns as sheriff.

Gene inherit half of a ranch, known as the Lazy L Ranch. On his way to claim the his half, he is ambushed by three masked outlaws known as Bart, Lem, and Cady. Gene captured Cady, and he and Pat bring him in, but Cady isnt talking. The other heir, Pauline Logan wants to sell the Lazy L, but Gene refuses. Gene and Pauline divide their halves of the ranch, only to find that Pauline has no kitchen on her side, and Gene wont feed her, to make her behave. Pauline fakes a sprained ankle, so Gene loans Champion, and she rides over to Latimer, who she was going to sell to. Cady is killed when he was about to attack Gene, and reveals that oil is found on the Lazy L. Gene and Pat ride over to Latimers, stop the lease signing, and bring them in.

A new power-hungry mayor of Dry-Gultch, Manson, wants to drive newspaper editor Jean Winslow, and her son Timmy out of Dry Gultch. The new sheriff Gene, and his partner, Pat are called in to investigate. Jean doesnt think Gene will be any help, but she is later convinced otherwise, when Gene goes after Mansons men, who have kidnapped Timmy, and his father, to scare her out of town. Gene (and Pat sort of) come to the rescue, and the Winslow family is back together in a stronger bond, while Pats song is completed.

Gene and Pat deliver a letter to Ma Walker from her son Billy. He sends her mother $1.00 and an apology for not seeing her on Mothers Day. When Gene and Pat ride into town, they chase after some outlaws who have just robbed a bank. They capture one of the outlaws, only to find its Billy! Billy promises to go to jail after visiting his mother. The next day, the Walt Brandy gang ambush Gene and Pat and take take Billy hostage. The sheriff assumes Gene and Pat let him loose, so theyre arrested. Ma goes after Billy, and Gene and Pat break out of jail to go after her. She then pleads for Billys release, but the gang arent compling. Ma is shot when she shields Billy from being shot by one of the gang members. The sheriff and his posse arrive and free Billy.

This time around, Gene is a Sheriff and he happens on Chaulky White killing Kelly the Knifeman who is practicing his act on Pat. Chaulky is put in jail but escapes with help from Higgins and his associates. Higgins wants to marry Alice Caldwell and has some dirt on her father. Mr. Caldwell goes to see Higgins but instead sees Chaulky kill Higgins. Gene thinks Mr. Caldwell killed Higgins but Pat tells Gene otherwise. Chaulky is captured by Gene roping him. No song in this episode.

On their way back from a trip, Gene and Pat chase after gunsmugglers, Jack Wells and Gimme Porter. When Gene and Pat bring them in, a lady sheriff rides up, mistaking Gene and Pat for the outlaws, and takes them in. Afterwards, Sheriff Kathy and her brother, Horace ride off the inform the authorities of the arrest, meanwhile, Gene suspects a smart aleck, Dodge Hartman of being in cahoots with the outlaws. Kathy leanrs of Gene and Pat being marshals, and lets them go to find the real outlaws. Gene goes undecover as an entertainer for a saloon, when Pat recognizes the outlaws horses, and leaves to get Kathy. The outlaws find Gene in the saloon, and after they get into a fight, Gene is captured, but Pat and Kathy ride to the rescue, and the real outlaws are behind bars.

Gene discovers dynamiting at a safe robbery. His number one clue is the fuse the outlaw used. Gene is confused when the fuse is times at 4 1/2 minutes to blow open a safe. Pat believes the fuse was that long so the robber wouldve had time to escape. Gene believes then that the dynamite was a cover up. Gene arrests his suspect, George Evans, who admits to lighting the dynamite, but to cover up the earlier disappearance of the money. Pat uses his new telescope to watch someones hand at poker, Gene then believes the telescope could be used to find the combination to the safe. Gene sets a trap for the robber who he suspects to be Jim Lear, one of Georges co-workers, by replacing the door of the safe and the combination. Gene is surprised to find the real outlaw is the hotel manager, John Turner. He and Jim are taken in.

Pat has ordered a mail order bride but when she arrives, she is a widow with a young son (Jimmy). Meanwhile the the stage keeps getting robbed of gold shipments but big Jim Brady isnt really concerned as his shipments are all insured. The Jimmy finds a strongbox in a cabin but it is only filled with rocks. Brady grabs Jimmy but Gene and Pat arrive in time to save him and discover the plot. Pat doesnt get the girl! Banker of Snake River, Ben Tansey, suddenly disappears, leaving the townspeople to believe he embezzeled the banks funds. When the sheriff goes out in search, he is attacked by two outlaws, one of them is riding Bens horse. Gene rides to the rescue, and takes over the investigation. After detective work, Gene and Pat are able to round up the real embezzelers, and Ben is saved. from a lynching.

Hard Luck Finney is getting beat up when Pat and Gene come to visit him. Gene gets Finney an honest job as a watchman at the mine owned by John Grimshaw. Grimshaw later finds Gene and tells him both Finney and a couple of bags of gold dust have disappeared. Gene sees that there was a struggle and realizes that Finney has been kidnapped. Gene follows a trail of pieces of an old map and catches up with the kipnappers. The kidnappers escape and later kidnap Finney again. They want Finney to show where his gold mine is located. But there isnt any mine! Gene and Pat catch up the kidnappers again and rescue Finney.

Deadly explosives have been smuggled into U.S.A., from Mexico, via pastries. Mexican authorities seek help from Gene and Pat, who try to run down the smuggling outlaws. While Pat is busy trying to carry a birthday cake for Gene without tripping and falling into it, and a French baker, Mimi, Gene discovers evidence at a death sight of a Mexican official that point to the pastries. Pat carries a box with a cake in it that secretly holds explosives, Gene saves his friends, and brings Mimi and her gang in.

Pat entertains Gene and Pats boss, Lynne Moores nephew, Johnny, by make believing a stage robbery. This cathces the attention of a gang of robbers, who then dress like Gene and Pat, fooling the towns citizens, and Johnny. Gene and Pat find themselves sandwiched between trying to elude the sheriffs posse, and trying to bring in the outlaws. With Johnnys help, Gene and Pat track down the outlaws, and Johnny learns a lesson in life that theres more to life than what meets the human eye.

Gene and Pat are riding to Blue Mesa when they save Tom Jackson from a lynching. Tom escapes, and Gene and Pat continue riding to Blue Mesa, where theyre greeted by Ed Hardley and his wife, Marie. Gene and Pat are called in to investigate losses from the local bank because of a series of stage robbers. Ed tells them that Tom is involved with the robberies, so Pat goes undercover as a cook for the Jacksons cafe, when he learns that Ed killed their father, who was once Eds partner, and stole his estate. After overhearing a stage driver talking to Pat about a stage full of money, Tom decides to ride after it, but Gene catches him by surprise, only to find that the real outlaw is ""The Black Rider"", who escapes in the mixup. Gene suspects Ed, and he is taken in, and the Jacksons receive their stolen estate.

Gene and Pat are called in to help Jim Saunders with his stageline troubles. Jims son, Ray is in love with the daughter of Jason McKee, Linda, and ends up assisting Jason about the stageline information. Linda tells Ray to tell Jason that Gene is taking the payroll. Jason has his henchmen go out to capture Gene, only to find that he and Jim have switched places. Jim is captured, and Ray goes after him, and is followed by the outlaws, who are followed by Gene. The outlaws wound Ray during a gunfight with Gene, who captures the outlaws, and solves Jims stageline troubles.

Gene and Pat are on the trail of Randy Barker, who is an escaped criminal. It turns out Randy was framed by Al Broderic, who is now the sheriff. Gene hide the boy at his twin sister, Peggys house. Gene spends the night in jail under the iron rule of Sheriff Broderick. Gene learns that the former sheriff was killed by three gunshots, but Gene knows Randy only uses one shot. Gene takes this evidence to the judge, who request more evidence. Gene hides a microphone at the jail, and Randy worms out a confession from Al, who says he framed Randy so he could get his hands on the Barkers ranch. Gene and the judge here this, and Al is jailed.

Social leader, Emma Conley, is secretly a trapeze artist with a touring carnival. Fearing her past will be revealed to her neighbors, she hires two gunmen to drive the carnival out of town. After Gene discovers Emmas secret, he tries to convince her that this is nothing to be ashamed of, but to be proud of. Emma then tries to fix the whole situation, only to find the gunmen are planning to rob the carnival. Gene sees right past this, and brings the two in, and Emma is now no longer ashamed of her hidden talent.

Archaeologists, Bonnie West and Jonathan Diggers, uncover ""The Cross of Wealth"", the last of a series of ancient Spanish pieces that represent the Ten Commandments. Multiple job keeper, Pat, is now in charge of a putting the cross in a safe until she and Jonathan can get onto a train heading west. One of the Commandments:""Thou Shalt Not Steal"" is broken when a gang of outlaws steal the cross. Gene rides after the outlaws, and captures one of the outlaws because they know where the cross is hidden. Ron Corness, the ringleader hold the cross for ransom, but Gene has a plan to get it back that wont cost Bonnie a penny. Gene lets the outlaw he captured escape, and he secretly follows him to Rons hideout, where theyre all captured, and the cross is returned to Bonnie and Jonathan.

Gene and Pat attempt to put an end to a series of train robberies. While riding along the way, Gene and Paspot two outlaws blocking a railroad track with wooden beams. Pat chases after the outlaws, Gene unblocks the railroad, and save the payroll train. Gene visits telegraph operator, Dan Parker, who believes Billie and Jeff Carter are behind the whole situation, because if the railroad is ruined, theyll gain possesion of the contract. Gene and Pat visit the Carters, and their foreman Blake Jessop, who treat the two like strangers. When Gene saves Billie from falling watertower beams, they sibs decide to cooperate with the two. Dan is the one who is really behind the robberies, and plans to continue the robberies, and put the blame on the Carters. Gene and Pat trail them to the boxcars, meanwhile Billie is handed a telegram, only to find the telegram was dated the same time Dan was tied up. He sends his henchmen after Billie, who get the telegram. Gene and Pat ride after them, and bri

Gene is the sheriff of a frontier town during a local election for the towns new mayor. Gene helps out candidate, Mary Sanders, who he thinks would be perfect for the towns new mayor. The other candidate is Thatcher Bowden, who decides to play dirty just to be the towns new mayor. Gene, Pat, and Marys adopted harmonica playing son, Eddie are supporting her, but Thatchers men are convincing the town a woman isnt cut out to be a mayor. Thatchers men then kidnap Eddie, and claim that if Mary wants to see him again, she should drop out of the election. Gene and Pat ride out to Thatchers place, who wont tell where Eddie is. When Gene hears a harmonica from a back room, he has all the information he needs. After a fight, Gene takes the outlaws in, and Mary is the new mayor.

In the season 5 premiere, and part 1 of a trilogy, Gene and Pat ride over to the Flying W ranch. Gene is to turn the rnach into a home for wayward boys. Gene is fully in charge, but if one little thing goes wrong, the ranch goes to Big Jim, who the leader of the Weston Gang. Miss Abby Pickett is the new teacher for the school, and Gene, Pat, and the Cass County Boys transfer the boys to the new Flying-A-Ranch Home of Gene Autrys Rangers. Gene finds himself having trouble dealing with a tough city kids named Legan, who goes by ""Lefty"". Gene lets Lefty ride Little Champ, only to find one of the ranchhands had put a cactus pad under Little Champs saddle. Gene sees a brand initials ""SR"" on Leftys baseball bat, and figures out that its Stan Richter (one of the ranchhands) is behind the whole situation. With Leftys help, Gene brings Stan and his gang in, and the Flying-A-Ranch is off the a great start,

Big Jim Weston is now in jail, after causing trouble for Genes Flying-A-Ranch Home of Gene Autrys Rangers. Big Jim has a letter sent to his only daughter Gerry Wentworth. She becomes a new tenant at Flying A, and Gene promises to start a Rangerette troop. Gene, Pat, and the sheriff are attacked to keep them preoccupied during a prisonbreak. Stan Richter and his lawyer Martin Pickett plan another sabotage on Genes ranch. This time, they set the barn on fire by a bow and arrow, and place the blame on Pat, when they bury his corncob pipe as evidence. Gene and Champion save the animals from the barn, while Gerry sees a man sneeking into the school, and takes him down. The man tells Gene about Stan and Martins plan, and Gene goes out to put a stop to it. Gene hides Gerry in the jailhouse for safety, where she meets her father, Big Jim, and unwittingly frees him. After a gunfight, Gene and Pat round up the outlaws, and send them away for good. Big Jim is satsified with the though that hi

Gene and Pat reminise about the time they helped an old Indian friend, White Cloud. White Cloud had a dispute with the town because a painter who had painted a portrait of him, and accused his son, Running Deer of robbery. Gene knows this isnt true, so he and Pat bail him out. Running Deer returns to the tribe, and Pat misses the fishing season.

Gene and Fernando, a Mexican patrol captain, learn that Gregorio, an Apache renegade is starting a revolution below the Mexican border, when guns are being smuggled to Arizona. Fernando is to trap Gregorio, while Gene is to put an American who is involved with the smuggling on trial. Pat is hired to transport a bell to San Angelo, not knowing his wagon is carrying an illegal shipment of guns. Gene finds Gregorio, and begins to chase, but has to stop when the renegade crosses over the Mexican border. Fernando allows Gene to unofficially cross the border to capture Gregorio. Gene then discovers the guns hidden in Pats wagon, and sets out to trap Gregorio. Gene and Fernando both cross the border, and together are able to capture the gun smuggling Apache.

Gene and Pat are on their way home from Mexico, when they find a preacher giving his sermon from the back of a wagon. He was driven out of the lawless town of Scorpion, while he is trying to raise enough money for a new church building. Gene and Pat help out with a hatful of silver pesos, and camp out for the night. Chief gambler, Jaycee Cady sends out his henchmen to beat up the parson and Gene. With parsons daughter, Esther, to identify the outlaws, Gene and Pat rude into Scorpion to recover the stolen money. When the money is recovered, Gene and Jaycee are sent to jail. During a fake trial, Jayccee makes a jailbreak. Pat frees Gene, and they find the outlaws hiding in a shack outside of town. Gene brings them in, and brings law to Scorpion.

Gene and Pat save a runaway wagon only to find it empty. Gene finds the driver, who says his only passenger, Driscoll is missing. Gene finds him at the sheriffs office, when Gene learns Driscoll is working undercover for a Colorado mining company. Pat follows him and his men to a mine, where he is trapped inside a cave. Gene finds Pats horse, and follows it to the mine. The owner of the general store admits to being the missing mining engineer, and lights a stick of dynamite to free Pat. Pat is saved by the cave being blown open, and the store owner is proven innocent. Gene and Pat track down Driscoll and his men, and bring them in.

Gene is the foremen of the Jingle Bell ranch that was recently inherited by Torrey Palmer, who is wanting to turn a profit using modern methods of selling livestock. Seeing how Champion is Genes horse, she decides to sell Little Champ to the highest bidder. Gene doesnt want to separate the two relative horses, he decides to scare Torrey away by spooking the place up a bit, and making her believe the ranch is haunted. She catches them in the act, and Gene and the hired hands are fired. After Gene leaves, Torrey is caught in a burning stable and rescue because of Champions love for Little Champ.
