Filthy and J.B. are superstars on the Hughes middle school basketball team, but find themselves drifting apart when J.B starts pursuing other interests. Chuck suffers an attack on the court and is taken to the hospital, leading to questions about his health and ability to coach. When a new girl arrives at Hughes, Filthy falls head over heels in love—only to see his brother make the first move.

Its Harlem Renaissance dance night at Hughes, and expectations are sky-high. Filthys determined to make his last middle school dance a hit, but JB wants to dance away his problems—like an overdue essay he lied about writing.
