Addison resigns from Seattle Grace, and heads to the Oceanside Wellness Group in LA where she was offered a job. Although, it seems that Naomi didnt consult the other doctors when hiring her. A father is frustrated with his daughter when she hides the fact that shes pregnant. When complications arise, Addison, Pete and Dell work together to make sure that the baby and the mother survive, as pain-free as possible. Jenny, a woman who has been seeing Violet, starts counting the tiles at a department store. To investigate what triggered it, Cooper and Paul, a shop assistant, assist Violet. Meanwhile, when a man dies of a stroke, Naomi, Sam and Charlotte argue over who should get his sperm - his wife or his mistress.

Addison and Pete treat a recently married couple who are having sexual problems. Cooper is trying to figure out why four siblings are all suffering from the same mysterious illness. Maya tells Naomi shes been hoping her and Sam would divorce since she was in the third grade. Sam and Naomi are against each other to lead the practice with unexpected results. Addison treats a girl trying to hide her past while Cooper has a dilemma of his own affecting his professional career.

Meanwhile Violet has trouble relating to her baby when her feelings about her attack resurface during counseling of a rape victim who is now pregnant, and Coopers financial woes catch up with him when hes asked to help buy out Naomis share of the practice.

The doctors venture into controversial territory when an unexpected new hire at Pacific Wellcare causes Naomi to struggle with the idea of genetically designing babies and Violet makes a sudden decision to try electric shock therapy on a patient. Meanwhile Addison somehow finds herself alone and with a cat.

While Addison deals with the unwelcome arrival of her father, Cooper is arrested because he refused to cooperate in a case involving a longtime patient. Meanwhile, Pete will stop at nothing to keep a terminally ill patient alive for as long as it takes for him to meet his new daughter.

An explosion at Dells house lands Betsey and Heather in the hospital. everyone is pushed to the limit in trying to save their lives. The tensions between Addison and The Captain rise even more when her mother, Bizzy, shows up and a shocking family secret is revealed.

Maya shocks Sam and Naomi, while Pete and Fife disagree on patient care.

When Naomi refuses to help plan Mayas wedding, Sam convinces Violet to help her. Meanwhile the tension between Addison and Sam deepens when they treat a suicidal patient and Cooper and Pete treat a girl with a questionable bite mark.

Things get too close for comfort when Addison, Pete and Sam must come together on a complicated case involving a dad-to-be who comes down with tuberculosis and threatens the future of his new family. Meanwhile, with Violet still gone on her Costa Rican escape, Sheldon takes over helping one of her patients, Natasha, to get over her crippling fear of flying, and Naomi finds herself in a bit of a love triangle of her own.

A husbands decision to pull the plug on his pregnant wife is overruled by a judge, forcing the hospital to keep her on life support until the fetuses she is carrying as a surrogate are able to survive. Meanwhile, Naomi feels betrayed after learning of Sam and Addisons feelings for one another, and she turns to Dr. Fife for support while William is away on business. And unable to cope with the tension, Addison takes the day off with Pete and Lucas.

After her open-ended escape to Costa Rica, Violet has finally returned home and to the practice. Everyone treads a little lightly around her, especially Pete and Addison who have mixed feelings about Violets desire to reconnect with Lucas. Meanwhile, Susans health takes a turn for the worse, and Addisons mother, Bizzy, begs her daughter to do everything in her power to help.

Charlotte and Cooper look to forgive each other after revealing secrets during couples therapy, Violet seeks the forgiveness and approval of her fellow doctors after they learn her novel-in-progress will make all of their personal lives public, Sheldon treats a patient who claims to have multiple personality disorder, and Sam and Naomi team up on a case involving a pregnant teen with Downs Syndrome.

Violets book launch party has finally arrived but Sheldon finds himself attracted to the doctor who criticized her book. A surrogate under Addison and Petes care is caught in a complicated love triangle. Cooper and Sam must convince a family that their sons health must take a priority over his sports career.

Katie threatens to take legal action against Violet for "breach of confidentiality," and although Violet feels that she hasnt done anything wrong, she soon realizes shell have to defend her actions to more people than just Katie. Meanwhile, Cooper suspects that Charlotte may be hiding some lingering feelings for ex-husband Billy, only to find out that Billy has been hiding some feelings of his own.

When Betsey returns to the ER for a second visit, the concerned Oceanside doctors start investigating the foster family. Amelia struggles to stay sober while Naomi announces a life changing decision affecting her family.

Meanwhile, Cooper’s strengthening bond with his son is tested by his allegiance to a patient in need, Pete and Violet’s marriage reaches a tipping point, and Addison collapses from her rigorous fertility treatments.

Pete, Violet, Sam and Addison adjust to their new, singles lives in different ways. Addison questions how much she wants a baby and confides in Jake, Violet considers an offer to go on a date with a young, hot paramedic, and Sam and Pete have a bachelors night at a local bar. Meanwhile, Charlotte faces a personal, ethical dilemma when Amelia uncovers a secret about Masons mom, Erica, and Sheldon refuses to bend to the pressure when an old friend from the police force wants him to rubber stamp a fellow cop suffering from PTSD.

Meanwhile, Sheldon warns Sam to be cautious as he deals with the return of his sister, Corinne.

Sheldon warns Sam that he may be in over his head when he insists on releasing Corinne from the hospital and caring for her at home; a badly beaten Scott arrives at the ER and is placed under the care of Pete; Amelia is encouraged to make a decision about her unborn child; and Jakes daughter grills him on his love life when he visits her at college. Meanwhile, Ericas health takes a turn for the worse.

Pete and Violet enter marriage counseling to help patch up their relationship; Amelia shuts down emotionally and avoids her peers upon hearing some devastating news; Addison adjusts to the new man in her life, and Charlotte and Cooper struggle with Mason when he refuses to speak to them. Meanwhile, Violet becomes suspicious of the sister of one of her patients.

When a patients partner and father are heatedly divided on his health care, Pete makes a decision that impacts everyone, including himself; meanwhile, Jake offers strength and experience to Amelia when he suspects shes being tempted to substance abuse, Sheldon and Violet treat a family concerned about the fathers new sexual appetite, and as baby Henry draws Addison and Sam closer, they struggle to define their relationship.
