Jack Griffin is a Harvard philosophy scholar who loses out on his dream job and goes to work as a high school Advanced Placement biology teacher in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio. He quickly makes it clear he will not be teaching any biology, however, and, realizing he has a room full of overachieving honor roll students at his disposal, decides instead to use the kids to enact revenge on his rival and take the job that is rightfully his.

While Principal Durbin struggles with budget cuts, Jack discovers his students pity him - so he rallies, making a splash at the school bake sale and getting kicked out of the bookstore for life.

Jack reluctantly agrees to go out on the town with Mary, Stef, and Michelle; his superiority complex proves difficult for the women to overcome; principal Durbin feels threatened when Helen fills in for him on the schools morning announcements.

Jack receives an offer from Miles publisher to write a book of feel-good philosophy that could be his ticket out of Toledo. Durbin accidentally sets off an emotional firestorm when he reveals that while Stef chose Mary as her emergency contact, Mary chose Michelle.

Jack is incensed when his dead moms former lover shows up and suggests they commemorate her birthday. Jack taps his students to help him retaliate, but the students hands are already full - of crying robot babies. Stefs kindness toward Dale the janitor sends the wrong signals.

When one of Jacks students anonymously reports him for canceling their much-anticipated fetal pig dissection, he sets out to find the snitch. Durbins chances at Principal of the Year are in jeopardy when the superintendent visits.

Jack takes interest in a revenge mission on behalf of the kids; Mary, Stef and Michelle believe theyve discovered an otherworldly presence.

As the newly minted drivers education teacher, Jack sets out to get revenge on his mothers church when he discovers the last of her money was used to buy a statue of the Virgin Mary.

Jack is aghast to learn he didnt make the Top 10 in Toledos Top 100 Bachelors, and Durbin did. Victor and Eduardo decide its time to reveal their feelings to their crushes.

Jacks war with his neighbor reaches a turning point when it threatens to ruin a date with Lynette. When the school photographer ups his rate, Durbin takes school pictures into his own hands.

When budget cuts threaten to gut Whitlock and put his job in jeopardy, Jack recruits Mary, Stef, and Michelle to take down the Superintendent. Durbin plans an appeal to the heart, while the students plan an appeal to the soul.

When hes kicked off his Harvard phone plan, Jack is offered a chance to leapfrog onto Marys on one condition: He helps her break up with her scuzzy boyfriend. Meanwhile, Anthony becomes Durbins right-hand man.

Its the most exciting time of the year at Whitlock: Durbins birthday and Spirit Week. Jack does his best to steer clear of any school spirit as everyone else comes together to take down their hated rivals at Prairie High.

When Jack is disappointed with the popcorn maker he orders, he and the students plot revenge. Helen goes back to school to get her high school degree and chaos ensues in Principal Durbins office in her absence.

Jack accidentally loses a significant amount of money and it falls in the hands of the students. As Principal Durbin and Helen investigate who stole the money, the students and teachers admit to other wrongdoings.

Jack has Mary drive him to the doctor, but a prank results in him getting the same procedure twice. At school, Durbin and Helen embarrass themselves and the kids compete over class superlative titles.

Principal Durbin and Helen sweep lockers. Jack finds out that Anthony has been lying about his extracurricular activities. Jack and Lynette follow Anthony to find out what hes really been up to. The search for Stefs baby donor intensifies.

A tornado puts the school on lockdown. The kids write fan fiction about faculty members.

Jack attempts to get closer with the guys at work. Helen helps Principal Durbin grow a backbone.

Jack finds out hes his girlfriends therapy homework. Principal Durbin goes undercover.
