Meet Miranda, RIchie, Will, Alex, Evan, Kelly, Jason and Gabrielle - flatmates, friends, lovers they are all searching for lifes often elusive treasures - a fulfillment of love, sex, money and success. Their shared experience in a St Kilda apartment building begins a shared journey of discovery, deception and delight as Evan embarks on writing his first novel despite omnipresent distraction and inevitable setbacks. There are some things one has to endure alone - without the helop of friends or family. But it is this experience that informs one of the loyalty that exists around them - and just who to trust when the chips are down. Richie shines in the celebrity of an actors life while Will realises he has to stand alone.

The only thing we can expect in life is the unexpected. Richie finally gives into temptation and desire, acting out a surpise sexual encounter with Simon.

Can we define ourselves by what we do, how we do it, or by whatothers believe we should be? Kelly explores multiple relationship questionaires and realises how people define themselves according to their romantic expectations. Jason and Gabrielle rock the foundations with their bitter breakup and Alex becomes very much caught up in the middle.

In a state of limbo, ones instincts cease working - instead of moving forward, one remains stuck to the ground. Richie strugles with his encounter with Simon and eventually confides in Will. Jason and Gabrielle finalise their situation.

After the bombs been dropped you have to deal with the fallout. Will gets stoned and forces himself on an unsuspecting Sam. Eric invites Alex on an innocent weekend away but has ulterior motivies and Evan becomes delusional about his relationship with Carmen.

Habits are are funny things... offering us distraction and comfort - but from what? Will offeres a lifeline to Sam in an attempt to ease her woes, but their relationshipis far from sunny. Gabrielle gets a lift from her affair with Mac but will the tide of romance turn? And Alex steps up and takes control of her romantic life once more.

Alex and Evan give into tempation but whats the aftereffect? Kelly in inspired and meets a man and Richie finally tells Miranda the truth...but at what cost?

When youre young you feel invincible. Alex has mixed feelings about Evan - feeling confused and betrayed. Miranda gets set for opening night of her show just as Richie movies out of the flat.

Richie finally embraces the gay scene. Evan submits a revealing aarticle to a street newspaper and "outs" RIchie in the process. Will has a reality check, determined to live life to the full.

How do we know when its now or never? Richie feels uncomfortable when Brad wants him to experiment sexually with another gay couple. Miranda and Will are becoming very close, and shes slowly letting Richie back into her life. Meanwhile, Evan is accepted into the Writers Colony in New York.

Evan and Gabrielle are salsa dancing. It reminds them of being in Cuba, the fun they had. They kiss. But that was free Gabrielle, and responsible Gabrielle lives in the real world - is sex with Evan the best idea? Alex is sure that her supervisor, Professor Vanda, is the main reason shes being sent to Edenhope, a remote posting near the SA border. Christian and Katie have a drink and he discovers that shes deaf. They cant talk to each other but theres other ways of communicating.

Alexs decision to move to London with Rex is cemented by a poor report from one of the senior surgeons at her hospital, despite the fact he has never operated with her. Evan helps organise a farewell party for the couple while Kelly stands back, distraught that her best friend is leaving. The farewell do is a perfect night for the happy couple and they make the impromptu decision to tie the knot in a low key ceremony on the oft used roof of their apartment building. The episode also features a confession by Miranda to her boss Chloe, and Richie battling to deal with life as an out-of-work actor.

Gabrielle discovers Tidys secret past and Christian welcomes an old girlfriend back from overseas.Evan gets fired from his job.Chloe moves in to Mirandas apartment.

Evan seeks justice at his ten-year school reunion. Miranda finds out the truth about her acting career.

Evan feels very guilty about Kellys attack. Miranda says goodbye to Chloe as Tidy lets a young boy die.

After their disastrous encounter, Gabrielle lays down the post-sex rules to Tidy while Christian seduces a close friend of Chloes.

Evan and George dont feel the same way about each other. Richies quest to become a dad hits an obstacle.

Gabrielle finally realises what she really wants. Evan and Chloe help Kelly run for student council.

Evan has thrown away his book but he still cant write, the old patterns remain. Meanwhile, Richie is shocked when Simon kicks him out of the flat. The two friends join forces and sink a few jars as they debate what the return of Saturn has done to their lives. As one drink merges into another, the boys find themselves somewhere they would never have expected. After months of struggle, Kellys academic horizons expand when she gets 19 out of 20 for a university essay. Suddenly, she finds herself considering things she never thought possible. Gabrielle finds herself in murky water when she decides to go for pre-selection at the local Federal seat. It seems like the job is hers, if she wants it - but it seems too easy, too quick. Meanwhile, Tidy encounters his first love, the woman he left the priesthood for, the woman who until one week ago was his sister-in-law. The fallout from Evan and Alexs encounter lingers as Rex returns. Hes tired, wrung-out, but not so much that he cant see something is going on. Rex presses Alex to reveal her secret, bringing their relationship to crisis point. Meanwhile, Evan, having finished his second book, meets his editor. Its Jemima. Yes, the girl who sprayed his room with fish sauce after they broke up, will edit Evans heart and soul. Gabrielle is forced to re-examine her principles when Bruce reveals he is pursuing an underhanded tactic that will tip the balance of the by-election in her favour. Its D-Day for Kelly, due to go before a tribunal to explain why she cheated in her exam. She could be failed, or thrown out of the course altogether, but more disturbing to Kelly is the thought she has lost the respect of her friends, and her teacher Frank, forever. Chloe thinks Christian could do better than Talia, and cant help baiting his girlfriend. Christian, meanwhile, is trying to beat his epilepsy by going on a health kick. His actions unwittingly draw Talia and Chloe deeper into conflict. Richie too is caught between his lover and friend, his relationships with Charlie and Simon fraying before his eyes. It all comes to a head as Gabrielle awaits the results of her election, leaving Alex and Evans relationship changed forever

The accidental catslaughter of Orlando is weighing heavily on Kellys mind. Lucy tries to prepare Piers case for Immigration, but things are looking shaky. Stu is incensed that his ex, Karen has stolen Buddha and enlists Christian on a retrieval mission. Conflict between the flats rises but Kelly is determined to restore harmony between them.

As if! Frank obviously intends to make life as difficult as he can for Kelly. Meanwhile, Lucys fiancé pays her a surprise visit. But her happiness is short-lived after she finds out the real reason behind his trip. Elsewhere, Nikki makes a shock discovery about Adam, and Justin tells Bree something hes never told anyone.

When Adam is confronted by an angry client at the brokerage firm, he is forced to question the nature of his work. He did everything that was reasonably expected of him. But did he do enough? Meanwhile, Justin and Adam form an unexpected bond when they share a night from hell.

Jeff invites Simon to meet his parents, but what should be a sweet night ends in a fight. Jeff thinks Simon is acting like his father, Simon thinks he is acting like a child. Is this the end of the rainbow? Or will they work it out? Lucy finds herself becoming drawn into the personal troubles of the father of one of her students. Bree is disturbed when Justin makes a play for her mum.

Justin wants to do his articles at an ethical law firm, but no one ethical wants to employ the son of tax-lawyer Hunter Davies. Nikki is jealous when Lucy connects with Rob and Stuart is upset when Zelko befriends his nemesis.

Nikki needs more out of her relationship than talking to Robs answering machine — but is Rob ready? Stu tells Lucy something she wishes she hadnt heard. Adam gets closer to meeting his son than ever before.

Lucy cancels her wedding and Piers flies immediately over from the UK to win her back. Corey arrives back in town throwing a spanner into the works of Kelly and Justins blossoming relationship. Adam finally gets the opportunity to meet his son and to see Nikki in a new light. Bree and Jeff fight it out at the Hair Show.
