The Legend of Mick Dodge

After waking up in the stump of an old tree, Mick sojourns to a remote spot called the Highlands — a place that looks out over the entire valley and holds special significance to his family. The purpose of his journey: to fulfill his fathers dying wish by spreading his dads ashes over the land. But before Mick can carry his dad up to the mountains, he will first have to remember where he stashed him.

Living in the Hoh Rainforest, Mick Dodge doesnt have easy access to food. He survives off mostly vegetation, but he also needs protein. After almost a week without a decent meal, he sets out to scour the Olympic Peninsula for protein. As he begins his outing, he shows just how desperate he is becoming — investigating elk feces for larvae eggs to eat. Then, Mick runs into a man named Will of Stone, who joins him in the food hunt at the river.

Its a holiday weekend at the Olympic Peninsula and tourists have flooded the area. The usually peaceful Hoh Rainforest has been taken over by hikers, campers and hunters. To escape the chaos, Mick Dodge journeys deeper into the forest toward a special place where he knows he can find refuge from the intruding city dwellers. After a long and dangerous hike, Mick finds that his go-to sanctuary has been compromised and is forced to come up with a new plan.

Encroaching loggers are forcing Mick Dodges friend and student, Will of Stone, from his cabin in the woods. Although Mick is accustomed to sleeping in tree stumps and living off the land, Will still has one foot in the modern world and is not ready to give up the roof over his head. Fearing that he might lose the one man who will carry on his legacy, Mick offers to help his friend take the next step in his transformation — life completely off the grid.

When Mick Dodge catches wind that some poachers are scheming to steal trees from a protected area in the Hoh Rainforest, he and his friend Moss Hopper team up on a risky mission to sabotage the heist. Hoping to catch the poachers red-handed, Mick and Moss plan a stakeout and prepare for battle. The two men will stop at nothing to protect their home as the dangerous mission leads to a late night showdown with the armed thieves.

As winter moves in, legendary wild man Mick Dodge is on an important mission to track down and harvest his main source of food for the coming months — chanterelle mushrooms, a delicacy that appears in the Pacific Northwest only once each year. But Mick knows that he is not the only one after this rare treat. With chanterelles selling for up to $20 per pound in the market, mushroom hunters from all over the world flood the rainforest to cash in on the golden bounty.

Mick Dodge hears from an old Hoh rainforest friend that hunters are illegally trespassing on his property. While appreciating the ancient art of hunting he cant tolerate outlaws, and together they sabotage the culprits.

When a routine river crossing goes wrong Mick loses all of his gear--including his clothes. Though he often dons his birthday suit just for fun, frigid temperatures send him on a mission to replace his lost leathers.

Mick Dodge takes on a new student, Dave, who wants to see the forest through Micks eyes and to reboot, refresh and reconnect with his primal instincts. Micks lessons dont involve any text books or maps. For Dave, its time to sink or swim.

A huge storm is approaching the hoe and Mick takes NO shelter in the most crazy place.

In the Hoh Rainforest, a full moon is on the rise - and this one wont be like most. Nicknamed the super moon, its orbit will bring it closer to Earth than usual...presenting a slew of opportunities for Mick Dodge. Traveling through the night, Mick aims to reach a secret cove by sunrise, where extreme high tides brought on by the super moon could deliver a seafood harvest.

July 4th invites the kind of reckless behavior that threatens Micks home, forcing him to stand guard, keep watch and protect the Hoh Rainforest. As Mick begins his 24-hour vigilance, he runs into a group of campers trashing the forest. Not one to look the other way, Mick prepares for a confrontation... But this encounter is just the beginning. When the sun sets, darkness brings a new danger, as the dry forest comes under fire from all angles.

In the Hoh Rainforest, Mick is part of an underground community of pioneers, and when a friend is in need of help, Micks ready to answer the call. So when the girlfriend of Micks long-time student, Will of Stone, tracks him down seeking help in finding Will for a serious problem, Mick doesnt hesitate to lend a hand. Will of Stone has been on a rite of passage in the forest for 2 weeks already, so this manhunt will prove no easy feat.

Now, Mick is relocating hidden stashes to a central forest base camp in preparation for winter. However, things dont go according to plan when Mick discovers some of his stashes have gone missing. Confident its no coincidence, Mick will stop at nothing to find the culprit responsible.

Over the course of his decades spent in the wild, Mick Dodge has discovered unusual remedies in the least likely of places- the kind of tricks that can heal him and alleviate pain in times of need. But when none of his natural methods are able to diminish the crippling pain of a toothache for long, Mick decides its time for drastic measures and seeks help from a source he hasnt tapped into in decades.

Mick Dodge has called the Hoh rainforest home for the last three decades, and he rarely ventures far from the wild. But he plans to leave it all behind to attend the wedding of girl hes long considered to be like a daughter. Mick has very few relatives left, so when he heard Shay was getting married, he knew he couldnt miss it for the world. But attending the wedding means a nearly 1,000 mile journey to Northern California.
