Cherish the Day

A chance meeting at the library between Gently James, a well-traveled caregiver from the West Adams district, and Evan Fisher, a software engineer, progresses into an odyssey through South LA.

After three months of dating, Evan invites Gently to his parents 40th anniversary party. What starts out as a lovely evening quickly goes awry when Evans father has too much to drink and his mother cant hide her contempt for Gently.

Evan takes a day away from his new tech company to help Gently make as many wedding decisions as possible, but they soon realize they have wildly different expectations for their big day.

At Evans urging, he and Gently spend the day "shopping" for a counselor to help them address their issues, but it soon becomes apparent that their problems are deeper than either of them imagined.

Chef Sunday St. James travels home from Atlanta to New Orleans to visit her aging father and reunites with her first love, Ellis; they reminisce about their past and confide in each other about their lives.

A camera crew films Sunday to promote her restaurant, Vegan Food Collective; Ellis unexpectedly arrives at the restaurant during filming and asks Sunday for a second chance; after an intense conversation about their intentions, they make love.

Ellis apologizes to Sunday for the unexpected encounter with his ex-wife last night, and he invites her over to family dinner to meet his daughters. Sunday is met with defeat and disappointment when she struggles to win over Everly.

Sunday hosts a premiere party at the Vegetarian Food Collective, but the celebration takes a turn when Hosea stops by with a big surprise and gets competitive with Ellis.
