At an explosive homecoming dance, friendships in both Crenshaw and Beverly will be put to the test when decisions made by Spencer trigger an avalanche that drastically changes the course of several lives. Meanwhile, Billy finds himself forced to spend some quality time with Grace and defend his decision to marry outside of the culture. Meanwhile, Coop realizes that getting Shawn out of gang life may come at a steep price for her.

Spencer should be on top of the world – his football team is headed to the playoffs and he can finally be with Layla – but he can’t shake a major tragedy that occurred causing him to question everything. Meanwhile, Coop learns some disturbing information about a friend and Jordan is worried about the results of a drug test that could end his football career for good.

At a college recruiting event, Spencer’s former teammates from Crenshaw show up, which causes Spencer to lose focus. Olivia comes to Asher’s aid, while Jordan struggles with the opportunities that comes with being Billy Baker’s son.

With playoffs and mid-terms looming, Spencer makes a few shocking discoveries about his father. Coop desperately wants to bring down her enemies, while Jordan makes a connection with his grandfather.

Spencer learns the real reason his father left when he was growing up and is devastated by the truth. Billy must deal with the repercussions of decisions he made in the past, while Coop tries to stop a plan she set in motion, with tragic consequences.

After winning the state championship, Spencer James faces a difficult decision that could transform his reputation. Billy realizes he needs to make some major changes to get his life back on track, while Grace and Corey have a tough conversation regarding their family.

Spencer gives his father an ultimatum about his new player. Coop decides to enter a freestyle rapping battle. Olivia reluctantly joins the So Cal Muse group. Spencer grows concerned when Layla is still not acting like herself.

After Spencer and Olivia’s efforts to try to get help for Layla blow up in their faces, Layla pretends that everything is fine by throwing a birthday party for Olivia and Jordan. With Spencer not in a good place after the news he receives about Corey, he is forced to have dinner with the biggest football booster, and it doesn’t go well. Coop is ready to start recording the music she wants but Preach pushes her to try something that isn’t her style. Meanwhile, Jordan finds himself in trouble and turns to his dad for help, leaving Billy to do what’s best for his family even though Laura doesn’t like it.

With Spencer, Grace, Dillon and Darnell reeling from the news about why Corey may have left, they set out on a mission to find him. After locating Corey and trying to convince him to go home with them, the weekend turns out to be just what everyone needed. In an effort to keep fighting for the family to be whole again, Billy arranges for the family to meet with a family therapist and possibly help decide on the next step for them. During the session, the therapist gives Jordan and Olivia a separate assignment, which helps them learn more about each other than either knew.

Dillon is mad that Spencer hasn’t been around, so Spencer tries to make it up to him by having him help sell tickets for Coop’s show, but they find themselves confronted by the police instead. Elsewhere, Coop is shook when faced with Tyrone, but luckily she knows Preach is in her corner. Billy tries to force Jordan and Olivia to hang out with him and make memories, but all doesn’t go to plan, giving Olivia an idea on reporting injustices. Meanwhile, Layla bonds with a new friend who understands what she is going through, but she realizes that Spencer and Olivia are there for her, too.

With Spencer in bad shape, Grace, Billy, Laura, Olivia and Layla rush to his side. Knowing there is a big decision he needs to make, the community from both Crenshaw and Beverly Hills rally around him to show support. In the meantime, Spencer asks Coop to do him a favor, but somehow things go from bad to worse. Elsewhere, Jordan and his teammates step up to help Billy out while he is tending to other matters.

Spencer is ready to get back to football in order to impress recruiters, but he must prove to Billy and Grace he is not pushing himself before he is ready. Layla is excited about her and Coop’s music, but Coop is distracted about what is going on in the streets. Olivia struggles in believing Asher and turns to Billy for help. Jordan does the right thing and steps up in a big way to help a friend. Meanwhile, as the District Attorney’s race is almost over, Laura tries not to get sidetracked by her opponents smear campaign.

Spencer goes against Billy’s wish and goes around him to get what he wants. Olivia and Asher are both guilt ridden for different reasons when it comes to Billy and the position he now finds himself in. Layla continues to help Coop with her music which helps Coop receive an offer that she wasn’t expecting. Meanwhile, Jordan does something to try and make things easier for Simone.

Spencer finds himself on the defense after an interview he gave comes out, upsetting his old teammates; Coop and Layla return from tour; Billy is excited for a fresh start at South Crenshaw High.

With the first game of the season coming up, Spencer starts to feel the pressure on and off the field; Jordan realizes he needs to step up; Asher keeps trying to talk to Olivia about the summer, but she does everything she can to avoid the issue.

Spencer and the team rally around Chris; Laura is concerned about Olivias sobriety; Jordan gets sidelined during a game; Layla hits a dead end with her lawsuit.

With Coop performing in Las Vegas, Spencer and some of the gang take a road trip to see her and Layla on tour. Spencer gets a little clarity on his feelings. Olivia notices that Jordan and Simone are acting suspicious.

Spencer is upset with Olivia, which leaves him to face some difficult truths of his own. Billy holds school tryouts for a kicker and is surprised at who the number one candidate turns out to be.

When a college scout comes to talk to Spencer, he must decide if the strings attached are worth it. Billy has an idea on how to help his players. A police shooting of a young black woman hits too close to home for Olivia.

When Spencer learns that Grace skipped her own college graduation, he enlists Olivias help to throw her a surprise party. Billy is worried about his players chances at college recruitment, so he tries to organize a scrimmage game to help.

When Billy forces Spencer and Frausto to get on the same page, the night takes an interesting turn. Olivia is excited to hang out with Layla, but the night doesnt go as planned.

Spencer, Olivia, Jordan and Simone decide to visit Simones aunt at the HBCU in Atlanta where she is a journalism professor. Simone has a run in with a star baseball athlete named Damon.

Things in Spencers life seem to be going right, but everything changes when Billy learns what he has been keeping from him; Jordan and Asher get some unexpected news.

The gang celebrates a birthday, but not everyone is happy about it. As Olivia and Spencers relationship grows stronger, Olivia struggles with the rift between Billy and Spencer. Surprising news makes Jordan and Simone realize they might not be as prepared for their new reality as they had hoped. Now that Patience is back from tour, she and Coop cant seem to get on the same page when it comes to their relationship. Meanwhile, Billy, Grace, Laura and Principal Carter team up with an unlikely ally as they go on an adventure in the halls of South Crenshaw High to track down relics of the past.

With Spencers determination to protect his teammates from unjust punishment, he puts his own future at risk. Olivia and Layla question their post-graduation plans only to find the answers where they least expect it. With summer ending and their college football careers beginning, Spencer tries to adjust to more than his brutal workout schedule. Olivia is excited for her new job, but it isnt what she anticipated. With the pressure of school, Spencer and Olivia find themselves looking forward to a fun day together, but quickly find themselves in the middle of everyones lives at home. Laura learns of some new information about the ongoing investigation that has Coop, Patience and Preach worried. Billy and Grace are at odds as to who is best for the job, and neither is ready to back down. Meanwhile, Layla assumes the worst when her dad tells her he is stepping away from his hectic life at the label.

Spencer continues to try and prove himself during practices, which seems to go unnoticed, but when a fellow GAU athlete offers to help him form a different plan to get back on the field, he considers it. Coop begins a new job at a nursing home and gets some sage advice from an elderly woman. With the encouragement of Asher, JJ gets a tutor which helps him confront a vulnerable time in his past through his term paper. Olivia is frustrated with her living situation, but also finds some inspiration for her next article. Meanwhile, Laura forms a criminal defense law venture in the community but struggles to find her footing.

With some heat on Spencer, he must figure out what his NIL brand, but he discovers he isnt the only one having a problem with discovering who they are. Olivias story makes things complicated for Jordan and potentially for her as well. Patience has a release party for her new album and things get awkward for her and Coop. Billy struggles to balance everything going on with his life. Meanwhile, Layla and Jordan are forced to face their past demons when they get locked in Laylas recording studio, which tests their friendship.
